Midday at IDSA: A Food Truck Round Up
Every so often, our events get so big, we’ll go back to our roots and coordinate food trucks in order to get a bunch of people fed fast. IDSA was one of these events where we brought food trucks for the lunch rush at this weekend-long conference. Get to know the lunchtime food trucks that got to feed the attendees of the Industrial Design Conference 2018.
1. Cocoa and Cream Catering
Ethel of Cocoa and Cream is a brilliant, warm personality in our team of chefs, and her cooking is an extension of her welcoming persona. Her classic southern comfort menus have delighted the entire city at a multitude of festivals and events – it’s even caught the eyes of Mr. Scott Aiges of the Jazz & Heritage Foundation. Her eventual dream is to open an all-inclusive event venue.
2. Sauce Boss
Sauce Boss is a newcomer to the My House Social chef community, and we’re so happy to have their food truck on board. Serving up some delectable BBQ, they have already become a hit in the local area. Their brisket leaves everyone talking at the end of every event, and we’re excited to feature them at more events.
3. Afrodisiac
Shaka and Caron of Afrodisiac are some of the most excited, enthusiastic chefs we work with. It’s very rare to catch them sweating it out during an event. But don’t let their bubbly personalities fool you, these chefs are masters for innovatively blending creole fare with their jamaican roots. Their jerk chicken sandwich is a must-have.
4. La Cocinita
La Cocinita is Venezuelan-inspired street food bringing New Orleans arepas and chachapas. La Cocinita has been featured on several major network TV shows, including CNBC’s Restaurant Start-Up, Food Network’s Eat Street, and the Cooking Channel’s Taco Trip with Aaron Sanchez. Since starting their food truck they’ve created a second food truck in Chicago along with a brick and mortar location in the Pythian Market Food Hall.

5. Burgers Ya Heard
Burgers Ya Heard is an unexpected experience offering virtually all types of burgers one could only dream of. From Pho to Jambalaya, we’re sure Chef John could whip up any burger mash-up with ease. After working in fine dining kitchens, he’s a heavyweight in the casual burger game. Our vote is always in the White Trash Burger featuring Zapp’s Chips (which are a delicious add-on to just about any sandwich in our opinion).
Ever wanted to create an event so big, you needed food trucks to ensure your whole team gets a great menu selection? Let us know! We can make it happen.
