Always in Style — Customizations and Other 2020 Event Trends
We’re gearing up for a nearly booked Spring Wedding Season, and we’re busy getting clients excited about their menus and event management timelines. We spent our recent retreat focusing on ways we can make the event planning experience more interesting, fun, and customizable. Turns out, our processes and new approaches are exactly aligned with the latest event trends for 2020.
1. ELEVATED, PERSONALIZED EXPERIENCES
We’re now living in a world that’s more diverse than previous generations, and couples really want to reflect this in every aspect of the event. Couples are looking to inject parts of themselves in their events whether they highlight their spiritual, racial, cultural, or regional uniqueness. We also look to do this for them when we have our initial call with couples to explore cuisines and decor that may interest them.
2. INCLUSIVE CUISINE
As we mentioned above, couples are more motivated than ever to showcase what makes them unique, which means that their menus are going to include cuisines and specific dishes that are outside of traditional wedding food. Skip the grilled chicken and fish, and say hello to tacos, ramen bars, bahn mi, and pupusas.
3. INTERACTIVE FOOD STATIONS
Interactive food stations are just another way for people to elevate and customize their event in a new and unexpected way. We love matching clients to these food stations and encouraging chefs to do something outside of standard catering like affogato bars, build-your-own grits stations, overflowing grazing tables, and bananas foster stations.
4. DIETARY ACCOMMODATIONS
There’s always the occasional guest that’s vegetarian, pescatarian, or allergic to shellfish, but now we’re seeing more people committed to lifestyle changes like veganism. We’re also seeing more people with serious dietary sensitivity like Celiac’s and Hashimoto’s. Couples aren’t just trying to be polite and offer one vegetable option these days, they’re going above and beyond to ensure these special guests are taken care of with a meal they’ll actually enjoy.
5. ECO-CONSCIOUS AND SUSTAINABLE
Eco-consciousness and sustainability efforts aren’t just for businesses these days — couple are looking to ensure their event has strong sustainability efforts. We offer clients options like disposable serveware made of bamboo, but couples may also repurpose their florals or contribute wedding gift money to a specific cause.
6. NEON LIGHTING
Neon lighting offers couples the ability to be fun and unique while retaining a sense of seriousness to their event. With fun sayings, images, and other customizable options, neon lighting offers couples a great way to commemorate their special day with a one-of-a-kind piece of art and event decor.
